Stop memorising. Start understanding why.

Most students learn what happens in a reaction and try to remember it. The trouble starts when the exam asks the question in a new way.

At Hetuvidya, every topic starts with why: the structure, the energy, the logic behind it. Once that is clear, equations, numericals and board questions become easier to solve and much harder to forget. हेतुविद्या (Hetuvidya) is the ancient Indian name for the science of reasoning; we bring that habit of asking "why?" to modern science.

  1. 1. Why

Start with the question behind the topic.

  2. 2. Concept

Build the idea with simple models and examples.

  3. 3. Apply

Work through examples and numericals step by step.

  4. 4. Practice

Questions in your board's own pattern.

  5. 5. Perform

Mock tests and feedback turn understanding into marks.

Learn at your level. Rise at your pace.

A free diagnostic test in your trial class places you at the right level. After each mock test, students who are ready move up. Nobody is labelled weak.

विद्या

Vidya · Foundation

Rebuild the basics: mole concept, bonding, equations.

ज्ञान

Gyan · Concepts

Full chapters, numericals and board-pattern practice.

प्रगति

Pragati · Advanced

Deeper problems for top board scores.

Built for school and board exams (CBSE, ICSE, ISC). Strong concepts also give a firm base for any future exam.

How a month runs

One focused live class a week, with regular checks so neither you nor your parents have to guess how it is going.

4 live classes60 minutes each, on Saturdays or Sundays
1 doubt sessionBring every question you have
Mock testEvery 2 months, in your board's pattern
Parent reportMonthly: marks, reasoning and next steps
Explained inEnglishहिंदीবাংলাNotes and tests are in English, the language of your exam.

Only at Hetuvidya

Your teacher designs real medicines and materials for a living. These three things turn that into something you can see every month.

From Lab to Life

Once a month, see how the chapter you are learning is used in real research and products, explained by a scientist who builds them.

Polymers → gels that carry medicine

Why of the Week

Send any "why?" question. The best ones are answered in a short video in English, Hindi and Bengali, crediting the student who asked.

Why does a cut apple turn brown?

Reasoning Report Card

Parents see more than marks: a simple score for whether their child can explain why, with one strength and one next step each month.

Marks + reasoning, every month

Dr Suman Basak CSci MRSC

Founder and Lead Mentor

I founded Hetuvidya Academy with one belief: students should understand chemistry, not memorise it.

I studied Chemistry at St. Xavier's College, earned an M.S. in Chemical and Biomedical Engineering at IIT Kharagpur, and completed a PhD in Biomedical Engineering, in nanomedicine and drug delivery, at the Technical University of Denmark. As a DAAD scholar I also carried out research at TU Dresden in Germany.

For about ten years I have worked as a research scientist in universities and industry in Denmark, Belgium and the UK, where I am now a Senior R&D Innovation Scientist at a global technology company. Every medicine and material I have worked on began with school chemistry. At Hetuvidya I teach those same foundations the way a scientist uses them, by always asking why.

In simple words: Dr Basak designs tiny particles, gels and patches that carry medicine to exactly where the body needs it. That work rests on the chemistry your child studies in Classes IX–XII.

Common questions

Are the classes live?

Yes. Every class is live on Google Meet with a digital whiteboard, and students can ask questions at any time.

Is this NEET or JEE coaching?

No. Hetuvidya focuses on school and board exams (CBSE, ICSE, ISC) and deep concept clarity. NEET and JEE need a different kind of preparation, though strong concepts help with any exam later.

Does this cover the full syllabus?

Concept Mentoring covers the key concepts and problem types chapter by chapter. It works alongside school, not instead of it.

Which language is used?

Classes are in English, with explanations in Hindi or Bengali whenever that helps a student understand. Notes and tests are in English, the language of the exam.

Who teaches?

Every class is taught by the founder, Dr Suman Basak.

Can parents watch a class?

Yes. Parents are welcome to join any class.

What if my child misses a class?

Message us on WhatsApp. We share the notes and help your child catch up before the next class.

How do we pay, and can we stop?

Fees are paid monthly in advance by UPI or bank transfer, with a receipt for every payment. You can stop at the end of any month.

Policies

Privacy Policy

We collect only what we need to teach your child: the parent's name and WhatsApp number, the student's first name, class, board and preferred language, and test results.

We use these details only to arrange classes, share notes and send progress reports. We never sell or share them. A parent or guardian gives consent for every student. To see or delete your details, message us on WhatsApp and we will do it within 30 days.

Fees and Refunds

The 2 trial classes are free. Fees are paid monthly in advance. Fees are not refunded after the first paid class of a month, and you can stop at the end of any month. The founding batch offer applies to the first 3 paid months of students in the first batches.

Child Safety and Online Classes

Parents may join any class. We message parents' numbers or parent-visible groups, never a student privately, and we do not hold one-to-one video calls with students. Classes are recorded only with consent, and recordings are never shared outside the batch. To raise any concern, message the founder on WhatsApp.
